Marvin Musquin is currently tied for second in the Championship after Daytona Beach SX

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (March, 9 2019) – Marvin Musquin is currently tied for second in the Championship point standings after finishing third at round 10 of the Monster Energy Supercross series in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Musquin started the day off strong with qualifying with the fastest lap times of the day. In heat one, he got caught up in the sand section pileup after the start and started out in tenth place during the opening lap. By lap two Musquin had made his way to fifth where he ultimately finished the heat.

With various types of dirt used on the track, parts of the track quickly deteriorated before the 450SX Main Event. With an already technical track, there were additional obstacles thrown at Musquin like the wicked sand section, enormous ruts and limited lines sections.

Once the gate dropped, Musquin shot off the line narrowly escaping the first turn carnage and into third by lap two. He immediately threw himself into an intense battle for the lead during the first half of the race but a mistake in the whoops and a brief bike stall, dropped Musquin back to fifth. Musquin knew he had to put in work and battled his way back to third by the seventh lap. He turned up the speed and pushed passed Blake Bagget in the sand section to take over third. By the twelfth lap Musquin caught up to Cooper Webb and made several attempts to pass for second but ran out of time and settled for third.

Musquin: “Daytona was overall a great day. The riding was good but unfortunately, I started making a couple mistakes by stalling the bike and that cost me a lot of time. I’m a little bit bummed because the speed was better than the guys in front of me but I was in third place. It’s good to be on the podium obviously but I’ve got to minimize the mistakes and be a little more consistent to be ahead of those guys.”
