Marvin Musquin takes the overall victory at Unadilla earning valuable points towards the championship

NEW BERLIN, N.Y (August 11, 2018) – For the second year in a row, rain has turned Unadilla National into a mud fest. Rain pounded the track at the 10th round of AMA Pro Motocross and resulted into a challenging day of racing. Marvin Musquin overcame Unadilla’s brutal track conditions and took home the overall victory earning valuable points towards the championship.

In Moto 1, Musquin quickly worked his way into the lead position during the opening lap and powered his way through the mucky track conditions with a 6 second lead over Phil Nicoletti. By lap six Musquin had some issues with his goggles and had to pull into the pits for a fresh pair. Unfortunately, this allowed Eli Tomac to get by and take over the lead. Marvin held the second-place position till the end and set himself up for a top overall result.

In Moto 2, Musquin took the holeshot but settled into second as Nicoletti jumped into the early lead. It wasn’t long before Nicoletti made a mistake on lap two, which allowed Musquin to take over. Up front, Musquin maneuvered through the slop and won Moto 2 with a 30.9 second gab. His 2-1 moto scores earned the overall victory for the day and is only 15 points away from the championship.

Musquin: “The track was much better second moto, not the first lap but they fixed some sections that made the main line dryer and some of the sections which made the lap times quicker. It was more fun second moto. Overall I was really happy with the bike second moto, wish we did them for the first moto but that’s the way it is but I felt really good. Frankie would never show me the gab I had on second place so I had no idea if Tomac was second or how far he was so I just focused and kept pushing.”
