BLOUNTVILLE, TENN (June 23, 2018) – Marvin Musquin showed true determination and gave it everything he had on Saturday as he emerged from Round 4 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship with his second moto-win of the season and third-overall at the Tennessee National.
During Moto 1, Musquin got off to a decent start but unfortunately clipped the rear wheel of Justin Barcia and went down in the first turn. Musquin was able to work his way from 20th to the front but could only salvage a fifth-place finish.
In Moto 2, Musquin started out in third and quickly made his way around Ken Roczen on lap two. Musquin put the heat on the leader, Barcia with lap times in the 1:53s and 1:54s. During lap three Musquin made a power slice to the inside and took over the top spot with a three second lead, claiming his second moto win of the season. His 5-1 moto scores landed Musquin his fourth consecutive podium.
Musquin:“Muddy Creek could have been a great day because I felt awesome on the track with my speed, intensity and the bike was so good but unfortunately I didn’t get the best start in the first moto. I tried to make some good passes but unfortunately someone cut really tight in front of me and I couldn’t avoid his back wheel and clipped it and went down. Going down in the first lap is not ideal, it was tough to be down and I tried my best to come back to fifth place. It’s a bummer to crash but I salvaged some good points and was really fired up going into the second moto and all I wanted was a good start so I could fight for the win. I got a good start and was running third before I made it around Roczen and Barcia, then took the lead. Felt great to ride by myself and control the race and get the moto win along with the podium overall.”
